Hostile Skies Squadrons and Clans
Form up, climb the clan ladder, and earn squadron rewards.
Hostile Skies lets pilots form persistent squadrons (called clans in the menu). A squadron is a group of up to 30 pilots who share a tag, a banner, a clan-chat channel, and a shared ladder position. This page explains how squadrons work, how to form one, how to join one, and how squadron size affects event rewards.
What a squadron is
A squadron is a persistent group of 1 to 30 pilots. Every squadron has:
- A three-character tag that appears next to pilot names in lobbies and kill feeds.
- A banner you can customise with colours and a logo.
- A clan-chat channel that all members can read and write to.
- A shared ladder position based on average member rank.
- Shared reward payouts for event victories.
Squadrons are persistent: they exist across sessions, across patches, and across the RANKED ladder. The longest-running squadron in the game is five years old.
How to form a squadron
- Open the squadrons menu from the lobby.
- Pick a unique three-character tag.
- Pick a banner colour and logo.
- Recruit members through the in-game recruit board or your external Discord.
- Set a squadron motto (optional) and a public description.
Forming a squadron costs 250 Robux or 50,000 credits. The Robux route is faster because it skips the credit-grind window; the credit route is fine for patient players.
How to join a squadron
- Open the squadrons menu and switch to the search tab.
- Filter by faction, region, or squadron ladder position.
- Send a join request to a squadron you want to join.
- The squadron leader approves or denies.
Most squadrons approve within 24 hours. Top-ladder squadrons sometimes have an application process with tryouts.
Squadron size tiers
| Tier | Members | Reward modifier |
|---|---|---|
| Flight | 1–5 | 1x event credit payouts |
| Section | 6–15 | 1.1x event credit payouts |
| Wing | 16–30 | 1.25x event credit payouts |
The Wing tier unlocks an extra squadron banner and a per-week XP bonus for every member. The XP bonus is small but stacks with event XP payouts.
Squadron ladder
The squadron ladder ranks all active squadrons by average member rank. The ladder resets every season. Top squadrons earn a permanent wing badge and an annual squadron banner.
| Rank | Reward |
|---|---|
| Top 10 | Permanent wing badge |
| Top 50 | Annual squadron banner |
| Top 100 | Featured in the lobby sidebar |
How squadron rewards work
When a squadron member wins a match in Phantom mode or an event, the squadron earns shared reward credits. The shared credits are split among the top three contributors to the match, weighted by XP earned.
Recommended squadron composition
A balanced squadron has:
- 4 to 6 lead dogfighters (the strongest pilots in your roster).
- 4 to 6 support dogfighters (patient boom-and-zoom pilots).
- 2 to 4 bombers (for ground-attack events).
- 2 to 4 jet specialists (for Phantom mode and RANKED).
- 1 to 2 role-flex pilots (play whatever the squad needs).
This composition works for most event rosters. Adjust if your squadron has more pilots of one role than another.
Squadron etiquette
- Pilots who are inactive for 30 days get auto-kicked from the squadron. Re-join when you come back.
- Squadron chat is the official channel for squadron business. Use Discord for casual chatter.
- Squadron tag abuse (impersonation, harassment) is a banable offence and a squadron-wide ban risk.
How squadrons compare to Roblox groups
Hostile Skies squadrons are not the same as Roblox groups. Roblox groups are account-level social features; squadrons are gameplay-level units with their own ladder and rewards. Many squadrons use a matching Roblox group for casual chatter.
How to leave a squadron
Open the squadrons menu and pick Leave Squadron. You lose the squadron tag, the banner, and any squadron-locked rewards. Squadron-locked rewards do not come back if you re-join.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Can I be in two squadrons at once?
No. Each pilot belongs to one squadron. You have to leave one before joining another. Squadron-locked rewards do not transfer.
What happens if my squadron dies out?
Inactive squadrons are archived after 60 days. The original leader can restore the squadron within 30 days of archiving. After that, the tag is released for new squadrons.
Do squadron rewards stack with codes?
Yes. Squadron rewards stack with codes and with event bonus windows. The combined burst is one of the fastest credit sources in the game.
