How to pick a weapon

  1. Open your plane’s hardpoint count. Most props have 2–4 hardpoints.
  2. Decide if you want to dogfight (MGs / light cannons) or bomb (bombs / rockets).
  3. Pick the S-tier weapon for your role; mix and match only if you have hardpoints spare.
  4. If you have spare hardpoints, add a 100 lb bomb for ground targets.

When this list changes

Weapon stats rarely change; what changes is which planes are meta. After every patch, re-evaluate the S-tier plane picks from the Plane tier list.

Why twin MGs dominate

Twin .50 cals hit the sweet spot of DPS, accuracy, and ammo count. They are the most forgiving weapon in the game. New pilots should default to them.

How cannons differ

Cannons trade rate of fire for alpha. Use cannons for bombers and slow multi-roles; the alpha compensates for the slow ROF.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Are cannons always better than MGs?

Cannons deal more damage per shot but have a slower rate of fire. For turning dogfights, twin MGs are usually easier to land.

Which weapon is best for beginners?

Twin .50 cals. They are forgiving and accurate at typical dogfight range.
