Hostile Skies Beat the Final Boss
End-game strategy, phases, and team comp.
The Hostile Skies final boss is a massive twin-engine bomber with escort fighters and a defensive tail gunner. This guide walks through the three phases of the fight and the loadout you need to win.
Phase 1: clear the escorts
The boss spawns with four escort fighters. Deal with them first or you will be chased constantly.
- Use two pilots on escorts while a third climbs above the boss.
- Stick to boom-and-zoom passes; do not turn-fight the escorts.
- The escorts respawn once each, so plan for a second wave.
- Call targets over voice so the team does not double-commit.
Phase 2: attack the boss
Once the escorts are down, the boss opens its weak points:
- Wing root (left) — high damage, exposed after the first pass.
- Tail rudder — disables the rear gunner.
- Engine cowling (right) — opens after the tail is gone.
Stack your attacks. A clean run uses a Mustang (energy), a P-38 (multi-role), and a Mosquito (bomber) to cover all three angles.
Phase 3: finish the kill
After the second wing root is destroyed, the boss loses altitude. Switch to a heavy bomber (B-25 or Ju 88) and finish with 500 lb bombs from above.
Recommended loadout
| Slot | Pick | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| Pilot 1 | P-51D Mustang | Energy fighter |
| Pilot 2 | P-38 Lightning | Multi-role |
| Pilot 3 | Mosquito Mk VI | Bomber |
| Companion | Engineer | Free repairs |
For solo runs, swap Pilot 3 for the How to shoot down bosses loadout and accept the longer kill window.
Common mistakes
- Chasing the boss too low. Stay above 2,500 m until the wing root opens.
- Firing at the rear gunner instead of the wing root.
- Using a turn fighter in phase 3 — bleed energy, fail the bomb run.
- Re-engaging without healing. Bring the Engineer companion.
What happens after the kill
Once the boss dies, the match ends and you collect the boss XP plus a completion bonus. The boss respawns on a 30-minute timer; rotate between the event and the How to earn gold fast loops.
When to run the boss with a full squad
A full squad of 4 is the safest way to clear the boss in under 10 minutes. With fewer pilots, the kill window stretches and you risk the boss recovering HP. Plan your squad composition before pulling.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How long does the final boss fight take?
A well-coordinated team of three clears it in 8–10 minutes. Solo runs take 15–20 minutes.
Can I beat the boss with a starter plane?
Yes, but it takes much longer and the failure rate is high. Upgrade to at least the P-40 Warhawk or Ki-43 Oscar before attempting.
