How to Earn Credits Fast

Credits are the currency you spend on every plane unlock in Hostile Skies. Most pilots spend their first ten levels starving for credits and grinding the wrong modes. This guide walks through every reliable credit source, ranked by payout per hour, and the stacking patterns that turn a slow grind into a fast one.

The credit sources ranked

Every credit source in Hostile Skies has a rough payout per hour. Ranked from highest to lowest:

  1. First-48-hours event window with a 2x credit code stacked — ~4,800 credits per hour.
  2. Recurring weekend event (Friday Night Dogfight, Saturday Bomber Run, Sunday Ace Race) with a code stacked — ~3,200 credits per hour.
  3. Squad-based dogfight with daily first-win bonus — ~1,800 credits per hour.
  4. Solo dogfight — ~1,200 credits per hour.
  5. Free-play bomber run without codes — ~900 credits per hour.
  6. AFK in a public lobby — ~50 credits per hour (avoid this).

The fastest credit source is the first-48-hours event window with a stacked code. Most pilots can grind 4,800 credits per hour during this window, which is enough to unlock a mid-tier plane in one focused session.

How to stack event bonuses with codes

Event bonuses and code bonuses both apply to your match payout. They multiply, not add. So a 2x event bonus plus a 1.5x code bonus equals a 3x multiplier on your base match payout.

The stacking pattern:

  1. Open the Active codes page and copy the highest-value active code.
  2. Open Hostile Skies, paste the code into the Codes tab, and redeem it before your grind session.
  3. Play the current event window (see Event schedule for current rotations).
  4. Redeem the code at the start of the event window — codes stack with the event bonus, not after.

The pattern works because event bonuses are account-wide and apply to every match payout, while code bonuses apply to the next match after redemption.

Daily first-win bonus

Every account gets a daily first-win bonus worth 1,500 credits on the first match win of the day. The bonus stacks with event bonuses and codes. If your base match payout is 1,200 credits and you stack a 2x event with a 1.5x code and the daily first-win, your first match of the day pays:

1,200 base x 2 event x 1.5 code = 3,600 credits, plus 1,500 daily first-win = 5,100 credits for one six-minute match.

That single match is worth four hours of solo freeplay grinding.

Squad bonus

Squads of three or more pilots get a credit bonus. The bonus scales with squad size:

  • 3-pilot squad: 1.2x credit multiplier.
  • 4-pilot squad: 1.3x multiplier.
  • 5-pilot squad: 1.4x multiplier.
  • 6-pilot squad (max): 1.5x multiplier.

The bonus applies to your match payout, so a 6-pilot squad with a 2x event and a 1.5x code triples a 1.2x squad multiplier for a 9x effective payout on the base match payout.

The caveat is queue time. A 6-pilot squad takes longer to fill than a 3-pilot squad. Most pilots run 3-pilot squads because the queue time is much shorter and the effective payout is still 7.2x.

Which modes pay the most

Dogfight modes pay the most per match. Bomber escorts pay more per minute but require more setup time. Freeplay bomber runs pay the least per minute but have the shortest queue.

The optimal pattern for most pilots:

  1. Queue for the current event window.
  2. Stack a credit code at the start of the session.
  3. Run 3-pilot squad dogfights for two hours.
  4. Redeem the daily first-win on the first match of the day.

That pattern reliably produces 8,000 to 12,000 credits per session, which is enough to unlock most mid-tier planes and put a dent in the high-tier jet unlocks.

How to use the credit calculator

The Credit calculator lets you enter your current balance, your average match payout, and your target plane. It returns the hours-to-unlock across three playstyles: freeplay, event grinding, and code-boosted grinding.

The calculator is the single fastest way to decide whether a plane is worth grinding for in the current patch or whether it makes more sense to wait for the next event window.

Common grind mistakes

  • Spending credits on cosmetics before unlocking the next plane. Cosmetics do not affect gameplay; the next plane on your tier list does.
  • Not redeeming codes before the grind session. The code bonus applies to your next match after redemption, so redeeming mid-session wastes one match’s worth of bonus.
  • Running solo instead of joining a squad. Squad bonus is the easiest 1.2x to 1.5x multiplier in the game.
  • Ignoring the daily first-win. The 1,500-credit first-win bonus is the highest-value bonus in the game per minute played.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What is the fastest way to earn credits?

The first-48-hours event window with a 2x credit code stacked and a 3-pilot squad. That combination reliably produces 4,800 credits per hour, which is enough to unlock most mid-tier planes in one focused session.

Do event bonuses stack with codes?

Yes. Event bonuses are account-wide and apply to every match payout. Code bonuses apply to your next match after redemption. They multiply, not add, so a 2x event with a 1.5x code is a 3x multiplier on the base match payout.

Should I save credits or spend them right away?

Save credits for the next plane on your wishlist. Spending on cosmetics delays the next plane unlock by hours of grinding. Use the credit calculator to find out how long each plane takes to save for.
