Credit Calculator

This tool helps you estimate how long it takes to unlock any Hostile Skies plane, given your current credit balance and average match payout. Enter your numbers, pick a target plane, and the tool returns hours-to-unlock across three playstyles.

How to use the calculator

  1. Enter your current credit balance in the field on the right.
  2. Enter your average match payout in credits per match. If you do not know, start with 1,200 credits per match — a conservative average.
  3. Pick a target plane from the dropdown. Each option lists the unlock cost next to it.
  4. Read the hours-to-unlock output for freeplay, event grinding, and code-boosted grinding.

The three playstyles:

  • Freeplay — standard dogfight matches, no event multiplier, no code boost.
  • Event grinding — first-48-hours event window with 2x multiplier. See Event schedule for current windows.
  • Code-boosted — freeplay plus the highest active code XP multiplier, which is usually 1.5x.

Calculator assumptions

The calculator assumes:

  • Average match length of 6 minutes.
  • Average win rate of 50%.
  • No squad bonus (set to 1.0x).
  • No daily first-win bonus.

If your squad bonus is 1.2x, multiply the result by 0.83. If you have a daily first-win bonus, subtract one match worth of credits per day from the result.

For most pilots, the optimal grinding order is:

  1. Save 50,000 credits for the Bomber Run event weekend.
  2. Redeem every active code on the Thursday before.
  3. Play the first-48-hours event window to double your credits.
  4. Withdraw your credits and spend them on the next plane on your wishlist.

This pattern typically unlocks the next plane in 4 to 8 hours of play, depending on the plane’s unlock cost.

When to skip the calculator

Skip the calculator when:

  • You are chasing a specific event reward, not a plane.
  • You have a private server and can grind without queue times.
  • You are at level 50+ and most unlocks are gated by level rather than credits.

For most pilots at most stages, the calculator is the single fastest way to know whether a plane is worth grinding for in the current patch or whether it makes sense to wait for the next event window.

What the calculator does not account for

The calculator does not account for XP-based unlocks. Some planes require both a level threshold and a credit cost. If you are below the level threshold, the calculator will return a misleadingly low hours-to-unlock. Check the Plane tier list for the level requirement before you start grinding.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How accurate is the calculator?

Within 15% for most pilots. The biggest sources of error are squad bonus multipliers and event window timing, both of which the calculator accounts for but cannot predict.

What if I do not know my average match payout?

Start with 1,200 credits per match — a conservative average. Adjust after five matches once you have your actual payout.

Should I grind credits or XP first?

Most planes gate on both. The optimal pattern is to grind XP to the level threshold during freeplay, then save credits for the first-48-hours event window to spend them all at once.
